#33 Litany of Fear 2020

During the first two weeks of 2020 we were exposed to a litany of fear by practically every media outlet–corporate, alternative, social platforms. Fearmongering is a mind/behavior control technique. How can we prevent ourselves from being captured by fear campaigns? First, learn to recognize the daily obsessive repetition of words and images that are designed to produce a knee-jerk fear reaction in a large number of people. Second, ask questions and seek the background knowledge that is not being offered by the relentless, oversimplified messages coming in through your digital devices. Third, figure out what you can and cannot control, and take whatever sane actions you deem necessary. Fourth, turn off and exit the digital world. Find beauty and joy in the here and now– in the real-life people and things that you can see, hear, touch, smell and taste.

Here are the headlines offered up by the New York Post during the first two weeks of March, 2020. This is not information. It is propaganda designed to terrorize people. I offer the Post’s headlines not because they were the worst offenders, but because they were typical of the time.

IT’S ONLY TEMPORARY

On March 16th all New York City schools were closed. On March 20th “non-essential” businesses were ordered to shut their doors by executive order. We went into our homes and gathered our families around us. We were told not to seek medical attention unless it was an “emergency”. We knew what that meant–a one way trip to the hospital where we would die alone hooked up to a ventilator. We waited to see who would sicken and who would die. A cough or a sneeze became a harbinger of doom. The media had groomed us to accept the emergency measures as necessary. We all looked forward to the day we could get back to “normal”. A quarantine was only 40 days, right? It should be over by May. Right????

I get on my knees and pray, we don’t get fooled again.
